Advantage for Fleas; Antibiotics and Herbs for Cough

Lacey’s blood work was about normal, except she has a high white cell count. Which, according to Dr. Bob, means she has some kind of infection, which is likely causing the cough.

I got the antibiotics and the herbs — 4 pills twice a day. Do you know how hard it is to give a dog a pill? She won’t eat them on peanut butter. So I push them down her throat one at a time. I know she wouldn’t eat them if I put them on her food. I’m open to suggestions for a better way to give a dog a pill.

The Advantage worked great!!! After I put it on her, several hours later I could see the fleas coming to the surface, moving slowly, dying!! Die, fleas, die! But then where do they go? Well, she shakes and shakes some more and shakes some more. Fortunately we have a housekeeper who comes and vacuums.

She was really restless all night, very uncomfortable, moving around, unsettled. Which, of course, meant I didn’t sleep much, I was monitoring her and trying to get her comfortable. Actually, I was concerned she was having a reaction to the Advantage. I don’t think she was — I think it was a reaction to the fleas dying and the itching and all that.

Now? NO FLEAS. HOORAY!! I washed all her bedding with some bleach (much to the dismay of my housemates because it smells the whole house up!).

Going to buy the Sunlight dishwashing liquid soon and spray the backyard. And give her a bath (the next fun challenge).
