Today I left Lacey at home…..

…. and when I got home, the house was a wreck.

I left her home because one of my housemates likes to have her home when everyone else is gone for the day. I’ve left her home before and she was fine.

I’m not sure what happened today. I’ve had the conversation with everyone that if Lacey’s out and about in the house, she has to be supervised. If she’s not going to be supervised, she needs to be in her crate.

I don’t know the story of today, but when I got home, rocks from the indoor fountain were all over the entryway and in the living room. [Lacey has discovered how much fun it is to play with these rocks — they’re smooth and they slide across the marble floor and are great to knock around and chase.]

There were muddy footprints and a bunch of smudges on the living room carpet. She was in her crate. I heard that Alexis took her upstairs when she got home and Lacey promptly peed on the bathmat in Alexis’ bathroom.

What is going on???!! She was probably upset with me, for starters, because I left her home. And she needed supervision all day.

So I picked up the fountain rocks and cleaned the carpet. I put her on a house lead (you know, the one I made for the park), tied a loop in it and hung it on the chair. As in, she’s tied to the chair in the kitchen while I then did kitchen stuff.

I took her outside to eat, she wouldn’t give a down, so she didn’t get to eat. Basically, it’s been a really bad evening for Lacey, but after an apparently really fun day.

Consequences. I wonder if she gets it. One thing I know, she knows I’m unhappy with her. She also knows I love her dearly.

And I do love this dog, frustrating moments and all.
