First Day Away

Today is Sunday and I’ve been in San Francisco (and away from Lacey) for 30 or so hours.

I miss her. I realize how much love she gives me and how much I give her.

I see how open I can be with her, and she loves me no matter what.

I talked to Melissa earlier and apparently Lacey’s being a real turkey today. I know she’s really angry with me for leaving, and she’s chewing things up. ug. I hope that doesn’t last too long.

That’s the update from the other end of the trip.

ps — Yesterday before I left for the airport, I walked Melissa through feeding her. We got the raw chicken backs and went out to the back patio. Lacey was so excited she could hardly stand herself.

“Lacey, sit”. She sat right down. “Good sit”. I handed her the chicken as I said “ok” as a release from the sit. She took it over to her favorite spot in the dirt and dropped it. She licked it a little and looked at it. She walked away from it, then walked back to it.

I looked at her and talked to her about it a little. She went over and picked it up, walked around the whole yard trying to decide what to do with it. She stopped, kind of cocked her head, then made a bee-line for one of her burying spots.

SHE BURIED IT!!! I couldn’t believe she buried her breakfast!

So I told Melissa — watch her because she’ll get hungry in the afternoon, dig it up and bring it in the house (through the dog door) to eat it. Then there’ll be a huge raw chicken and dirt mess to clean up.

Not sure if she’s actually dug it up yet — haven’t gotten the update on that yet. Good grief. I hope she eats it outside. or better yet, lets it decompose completely.
