There’s definitely no substitute for mom!
Okay, I’m only posting this because I know Anna is probably checking her blog a dozen times a day to see if I’ve posted anything.
First, I’d like to say that I am not nearly as witty as Anna, so it’s unlikely that her brother will be laughing outloud at any of my posts. But, I’m giving the writing thing a shot anyway. And I know from being a frequent reader of this blog, to end today’s post with “I love this dog.”
So, right now, Lacey is sleeping on the rug in the kitchen. Yes, Anna, the one in front of the sink that she’s not supposed to lie on. You know, she REALLY likes that rug…way better than the little one off to the side that you bought her! Speaking of rugs, she’s been trying to completely unravel the rug that’s by the back door. I asked one of your housemates if it was okay if Lacey chewed on it, and she said yes. So, now Lacey’s working on completely destroying it! She seems really entertained by unraveling it and because it’s okay, I’ve let her just go for it.
You know, this dogsitting gig is really hard for me. I’m not much for rules myself, so trying to abide by the THREE (yes, three) pages of guidelines and rules that Anna left me has been a challenge. I will say this…I’ve followed every one of them and I’m pretty proud of it because I have a soft heart for dogs with big, brown eyes! In all seriousness, Anna, you will be happy to know that Lacey’s followed most of the commands I gave her. She did test me all day yesterday by constantly getting on the bed and not getting off when instructed. But, other than that, we’ve done well. I am sure she thinks she’s boss (and she is) but I’m standing tough.
She’s been really good today. We ate and played when I got home from work. Now, she’s tired. I hope she sleeps well tonight because she kept me up all night last night while she snored her way through dreamland. Yes, SNORING! I had no idea a dog could snore that loud!!! We took a nice, long walk this morning and met all kinds of people, dogs, birds, etc. Then, we came home and ate raw chicken (I have to plug my nose…I can’t stand raw meat!) in the backyard. She hasn’t dug up the one from Saturday yet. I think she’s forgotten about it.
So, I’m definitely not mom. But, we’re doing okay. Looks like we’re off to bed soon. Lacey’s already snoozing by the sink and I’m about to fall asleep on my laptop.
Did I mention….I love this dog.
Melissa
